SAT Group - Sicilian Airbus Travel, based in Taormina, is specialized in supporting the incoming tourist flow to Sicily operating as Transportation Company, as well as D.M.C., Tour Operator and Travel Agency.
Through a flexible structure, combined with vast knowledge of the territory and large experience, SAT Group has gained the necessary know-how offering a complete range of first class services starting from the simple transport to the entire organization of excursions, Incentive, Congress, Events and tours of Sicily, Italy and Europe.

Esperienza fantastica: Ho fatto ben 4 escursioni (Etna basic, Etna tramonto, Panarea & Stromboli e Randazzo, Alcantara & wine tasting) con questa agenzia: super soddisfatta! E sono sicura che la sceglierò ancora! Competenza, serietà e gentilezza. Le guide forniscono informazioni esaustive e interessanti. Gli autisti sono davvero eccellenti nel loro lavoro. Esperienza fantastica: L'escursione al tramonto sull'Etna con Sat Excursioni è stata un'esperienza indimenticabile! Il paesaggio vulcanico illuminato dai colori caldi del tramonto è stato uno spettacolo naturale unico. Il tramonto sui crateri sommitali dell'Etna offre una vista panoramica spettacolare, con la possibilità di scorgere le isole Eolie, la costa di Taormina e Catania, e persino la Calabria, se la giornata lo permette. Le guide vulcanologiche o alpine certificate offrono un'esperienza sicura e informativa, spiegando la formazione dei crateri e la geologia del vulcano. Davvero suggestivo.

Esperienza fantastica: Ich bin gerade zum 2x in diesem Jahr in Giardini Naxos und habe fast alle Touren miterlebt. Mein ganz großes Dankeschön möchte ich der Reiseführerin Renata (e) sagen. Das waren die besten Touren. Sie weiß einfach alles über Sizilien, sowohl historisch, als auch über die Kultur und was es sonst noch Wissenswertes zu erzählen gibt. Sie hält zwischendurch an privaten Obst und Gemüseständen an, um uns z.b. den lila Blumenkohl zu zeigen. Sie lässt den Bus anhalten, damit man Fotos von Besonderheiten schießen kann. Sie spricht verschiedene Sprachen perfekt und gibt auch allen Nationalitäten den gleichen Wissensstand. Einfach nur danke!!! Und jetzt noch ein riesengroßes Lob an alle Busfahrer von SAT. Ich ziehe meinen Hut vor euren Fahrleistungen. Manchmal hat nicht mal eine Hand zwischen 2 Bussen, die aneinander vorbei gefahren sind, gepasst. Aber sie haben es immer gemeistert. Ich habe mich immer sich im Bus gefühlt. Vielen Dank. Eine kleine Kritik möchte ich doch anmerken. Manchmal ist nach den Führungen so wenig Zeit, dass man nicht mal Zeit hat sich irgendetwas an den Ständen anzuschauen oder zu kaufen. Auch diese Menschen leben vom Tourismus, daran sollte das Unternehmen vielleicht auch mal denken. So ansonsten möchte ich nur sagen, danke und arrividerci...bis nächstes Jahr.

Esperienza fantastica: I’d the tour again just for Arturo the guide. He was very passionate and attentive to his guest. Sunset was amazing and got a couple hundred metres from the summit. Incredible view and experience!

Esperienza fantastica: Jedes Jahr Schöne Ausflüge mit der SAT, komme gerne jedes Jahr und mache jedes Jahr die Ausflüge: "Panarea & Stromboli", "Lipari & Vulcano", Die Ätna Rundfahrt mit Kraterauffahrt und weitere Ausflüge. Schöne Grüße an alle Reiseleiterinnen und Reiseleiter. Ogni anno faccio delle meravigliose escursioni con SAT. Mi piace tornare ogni anno e partecipare alle escursioni: "Panarea e Stromboli", "Lipari e Vulcano", il tour dell'Etna con salita al cratere e altre escursioni. Un caro saluto a tutte le guide turistiche.
Esperienza positiva: Overall a great day out and very interesting indeed. Alexandra our guide was extremely experienced, thorough and funny and Filipo, the bus driver, was so lovely too. My only tiny quam was that I was a little disappointed that we were on a regular train instead of the promised vintage train but when I asked Alexandra she quickly explained that it is because during the hotter months they use the train with air conditioning. Otherwise, the cable car and quad buses to the higher point were my favourite parts.

Esperienza negativa: Rating one, it would be zero if possible, because of the guide. Considering his vast experience, he should have at least learned that he can not treat passengers in such a way. The man was extremely arrogant and unpleasant towards the passengers, because they didn’t hear the information he claimed to have said – but he didn’t, since at least one of us would have heard it. He was disorganized, we didn’t even know where we were going or what we were looking at.But we all remembered his "12 € lunch offer", which he mentioned dozens of times. I do not recommend this tour. Very dissapoiting experience in Syracuse.
Hello, we really do not understand to whom you are referring, normally the Syracuse tour is conducted by a lady. Plus we do not sell or push on lunch. Our guests are free for lunch time and no one is forced. So, we suggest next time to contact us during the tour to better explain your difficulties. We hope for next time for a better experience. Esperienza fantastica: Esperienza favolosa, visto che è la prima volta in Sicilia. Ho prenotato tramite Travel Taormina e devo dire molto gentili e disponibili. Il viaggio è stato piacevole, ringraziando la guida Renate molto preparata e disponibile verso tutti, che ci ha spiegato in modo dettagliato durante il viaggio sia di andata che di ritorno tutto quello che ci passava attorno. Esperienza positiva: Sat offre escursioni davvero interessanti: noi abbiamo scelto quella sull'Etna con Gole dell'Alcantara e quella alle isole Lipari e Vulcano. Premettendo che le guide sono state gentilissime, ci aspettavamo che le visite sarebbero state guidate per la loro intera durata (lasciando magari solo un po' di tempo libero), ma ci hanno solamente accompagnato a destinazione commentando sul bus, lasciandoci soli una volta giunti a destinazione. Riteniamo che per il costo elevato delle escursioni sarebbe stato oppurtuno il loro accompagnamento con un programma ben studiato.

Esperienza fantastica: We had a fantastic experience using the services of the SAT team. They gave us invaluable assistance on our travel plans. They provided a van & driver to transfer 9 of us to a small Italian village. The driver was so professional and helpful throughout the day. We also partook and enjoyed a Mt Etna tour. It was professional run and on time . Overall, a great experience—highly recommend!

Esperienza fantastica: I do really think this is the best Tour Operator in East Sicily. I had a magic experience doing the Etna Sunset tour and the Aeolian Islands Panarea and Stromboli. There are no words to describe how wonderful fabulous and charming they were. The guides with you are super caring and professional, and you will have a memory that will be in your heart for all your life.

Esperienza negativa: The guide Antonio is nice as an acid yogurt ..we understand he must be stressed cause when someone asks him some BASIC question (which is not his hilarious explanation that everyone can see with their own eyes..like this vulcano is in the middle cause there are two little volcanos one on the right and one on the left..literally..and saying this by screaming and with an arrogant attitude DISTURBING the peace of the awesome sunset by saying stupid things and getting irritated if someone asks something like he is afraid that those questions can show his ignorance on basic matters.His English is very poor ,in fact 4 people were almost missing the bus on the way back cause they didn't undertake his indications..making a tragedy cause Alexandra (the bus guide) didn't come up to the volcano with us just because he needed to simply count till 19 (the numbers of people to drop at the restaurant) which is an avoidable stop that unnecessarily made us late (midnight) and it s paid apart like the jacket rental (that Alexandra will push you to rent..I didn't and I was perfectly fine when I reached the top) as well as the stop to the sweets shop..maybe they get a commission ? I ve given one star cause Alexandra has a nice sexy voice when she takes the microphone in hands ONLY..that makes the driver happy during the journey ..the driver is the BEST able to drive in those curves of Taormina where he is unnecessarily pushed to reach till the top (with the consequent WASTE of time of all the other passengers who come from Giardini for example) when it would be more convenient to just hire a small van or a car to pick up those people from Taormina and bring them on the main road. And for the guide Antonio maybe if the company would have hired 1 more guide to do the morning shift so that he ll come less stressed for the sunset shift and he could MAYBE give a better service to the people who pay 115 euros and they are in vacation not in a concentration camp !
We are sorry that the Alpine Guide Antonio did not satisfy your expectations. All customers are invited to freely ask questions and we are surprised of your comments. The voice in open space must be kept loud in order to allow everybody to listen. We wish to underline that stops on the way up to the highest altitude and the way down to the sea level are necessary for technical reasons to make customers gradually acclimatate with altitude. We cannot rush. Secondly, there is no commission on rentals, our guide suggest to rent the jacket only due to frequent strong cold wind at 2900 m. Comments on the voice of our tour guide Alessandra are subjective.

Esperienza fantastica: We had a great trip to Etna. The guide was amazing. While 90% of the bus was German-speaking, and the other 10% was divided between Italian- and English-speaking tourists, she still did all the commentary in three languages. Top professionalism. Recommend!

Esperienza fantastica: I went on an excursion with SAT Group to Syracuse and Ortigia with friends from Australia. Very impressive. The bus ride went smoothly and the guide excellent in describing places and things of interest along the route. The visit of the archeological site was really very interesting. Ortigia was amazing! I highly recommend to go on this excursion.

Hello Sandrine, it is totally impossible to forecast the weather on top of Mount Etna, in fact it can happen to have storm at the bottom and beautiful weather above the clouds at the upper craters. It is often a matter of winds. We are very experienced on this matter and we know that nature is very unpredictable. In any case, we always refund the ascent in total or partially when it is impossible to reach the top.

Esperienza fantastica: It really was a lovely excursion to the gorgeous eolian islands of Panarea and Stromboli. I am actually sicilian, and I went for this choice twice. In fact since last summer I have enjoyed this trip to my fave islands... It is all well managed, and you don't have to worry about any car parking, ferry tickets and so on. What a chance to make new friends on board! I did love it, and I definitely recomend it, to you all guys. Ciao

Esperienza negativa: Beware!! This company try to rip you off by not paying you the exchange rate they advertise on their shop front and then hope you don’t realise. They show £1 = €1.09 but tried to pay me £1 = €0.80 at the point of exchange. Very underhanded and dishonest.
Hello Mr Hill, we remember you very very well, since you have been at our exchange bureau yesterday and our colleague Mrs Elena, who was on duty yesterday, has written a report regarding your behavior. Following your request to change GBP 200, she has showed you the amount of Euro 174,20 for the exchange operation three times also calculating with different amounts explaining very clearly that our commission, which is displayed on our external shop window and inside on the Rate table, is 4.95% (the lowest in town), then you have decided to proceed and gave your passport to her since you have accepted the operation, you have received the money although you were complaining all the time. Then you have gone out of the office with the money. After a while, you came back claiming that the change was not good and you were not happy with that. No one has forced you to change, everything was explained step by step. At the end, you have decided to cancel the operation and get your GBP 200 back. We have done it although this is such a loss of time. We really do not understand your unfair behavior which is damaging our reputation. We have never received such an insult. Our Exchange Bureau has been existing for over 30 years, we were the first one in town and we do not accept these kind of comments considering also that it was a Sunday, a festive day. SAT Group

Esperienza fantastica: Great tour thanks to our driver Angelo and our experienced guide Lisbet ! We have done many tours with SAT GROUP and have never been disappointed : easy booking process, pick-up possibility at several places around Taormina, Giardini, Recanati. The program is respected, they are very punctual. During the trip we get a lot of practical information in several languages. Once arrived, our guide gives the detailed planning and let the guests decide if they join the group or go solo. Just be back in time, that's all. We recommend to stay with the group because Lisbet is an expert and takes time to answer questions and to give information you won't find in any book or brochure. Thanks, Angelo & Lisbet !

Esperienza negativa: DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM! We booked an Enta trip with an affiliated travel agent two days in advance. SAT bus didn’t show up at all. Their excuse was that the travel agent didn’t give them the details but that’s straight up a lie. SAT staff missed the message and didn’t book us in. We wasted a day doing nothing and it’s our wedding anniversary. The staff merely offered a 10% off with another trip with them but due to the dates we couldn’t do the trip we wanted to do. Terrible customer service and full of excuses. Would give zero star if that’s an option.

As a matter of fact, this is a case of misunderstanding on the location for the pick-up and, a mistake that should not happen and we are sorry for that. We transport about 30.000 guests each season and this kind of problems are really rare but unfortunately can happen randomly. We are profusely sorry if that happen on your booking and it was also you anniversary.

Esperienza fantastica: The tour to Etna from Taormina was great. Booking was easy, individual questions were answered immediately via WhatsApp. The pick-up location was suggested independently by SAT Group Tours, nearly to our hotel. This worked perfectly. The tour met all expectations: Very friendly tour guide Alexandra, with good but not too much information. Safe bus driver. Perfect tour, would happily use SAT Group Tours again.

Esperienza negativa: Sunset etna tour - bad tour. The tour at the mountain run by a local guide is fine (but not connected to SAT). On the way they force a stop at a local waste of time tourist trap shop, and then after the mountain take you to a tourist trap restaurant whether you want to go or not and costs extra. This means the tour ends very late, unnecessarily late, at past midnight.
That's unbelievable! You should know that some stops on the way up/down to/from Mount Etna are necessary in order to gradually get used to the increasing/decreasing altitude, besides that, we give possibility to use toilets and have a coffee break. Regarding the restaurant, it is not a tourist trap at all, it is the only refuge on the North side of Etna all made in wood and it serves genuine food with honest prices. The tour ends late because it is based on the sunset time, since we need darkness in order to spot the lava but not a word about the magnificent view and explosions you have seen at the top of the highest active volcano in Europe. Esperienza fantastica: Tour dell'Etna e tappa alle Gole dell'Alcantara. Gita super piacevole con la bravissima, cordiale e preparata guida Alexandra e il simpaticissimo autista Alfio. Ci hanno accompagnati sino al Rifugio Sapienza dov'è stato possibile fare soft trekking e visitare i crateri Silvestri e le colate laviche. Esperienza ideale per chi voglia fare una visita in assoluta rilassatezza grazie anche a chi mette sempre il cuore in ciò che fa!

Esperienza fantastica: Wykupiliśmy online wycieczkę Etna Basic Tour - 105euro. W cenie transport autokarem, wjazd na Etne kolejką liniową a następnie Jeepami. Na wysokości 2900m npm około 40min lekkiego trekingu z przewodnikiem (angielski,włoski). Wycieczka przebiegła bardzo sprawnie. Bardzo dobrze zorganizowana. Mieszkaliśmy w Letojanni, autokar odebrał na s przystanku przy Via Nazionale Hotel Antares o godzinie 9, powrót na godz. 16.15. W autokarze pilotka opowiadała o Etnie oraz przekazywała informacje organizacyjne w języku angielskim i niemieckim.

Esperienza fantastica: Wybraliśmy się na wycieczkę Etna basic tour na 3 tys metrów. Bardzo polecam. Mieliśmy zapewniony odbiór z hotelu (Letojanni) wjazd kolejką linową, busy 4x4 oraz przewodnika. Pani pilot była miła oraz pomocna, mówiła w 3 językach (niemiecki, włoski, angielski) za co wielki plus. Wycieczkę kupiliśmy online dzień przed. Dobre buty i bluza w zupełności wystarczą na taką wersje wycieczki ;)

Esperienza positiva: Sama Etna cudowna. Przewodnik-bardzo sympatyczny,miły pań. Jednak na Etne dotarlismy już pozbawieni energii. Alkantara,za którą trzeba zapłacić dodatkowo to żadna atrakcja, następnie stary,piękny pociąg,w którym gotowaliśmy się ,jeżdżąc ściśnięci,bez żadnej klimatyzacji ,w temperaturze 30° Na Etnie każdy chodził sam,bez przewodnika wiec równie dobrze moglam jechac tam miejskim autobusem za parę euro,kupic bilet na kolejkę linowa. Uniknęłabym męczących "atrakcji" i zapłaciłabym połowę ceny.
Hello, we kindly inform you that there is no public bus from Taormina to Rifugio Sapienza Etna South, besides that, it would have been better for you to choose our Etna Basic Tour instead of Etna Round Alcantara, as this one goes directly to Rifugio Sapienza and is much shorter and focused on Mount Etna only instead of exploring the foot of Etna. Esperienza fantastica: I highly recomment the Sunset Etna tour. We had a great time visiting Mount Etna with SAT. Our guide Giuseppe was very friendly, and knowledgeable. The driver (also named Giuseppe) was very experienced which is a must when you go up and down all those winding roads. This specific tour is not overly crowded which was what exactely what we were looking for to be able to enjoy the stunning views at sunset. They have tons of great options to choose from, and when in doubt, ask Giovanna, and she will create the perfect tour around your needs and likings just like she did for us. I could not recommend it more!

Esperienza fantastica: I had the pleasure to take a trip today on mount ETNA, up to the top of the Volcano. The trip was fully organized by SAT Group and it was just wonderful! The organization was perfect, the bus were modern, clean and in time. The Guides were super professional, kind and always at service. They picked us up in Taormina and we drove to the base of ETNA and then with special jeeps up to the volcano. The environment and the volcano are just magnificent and breathtaking. The sunset on top of the volcano quite magical! On the way back we stopped at a typical mountain restaurant which was simply delicious . Esperienza negativa: Abbiamo prenotato un giro inbarca dell'isola bella dal sito di sat escursioni pagando 40 euro a persona essendoci scritto sul sito che sarebbe stata un'escursione di mezza giornata ( invece delle due ore che fanno tutte le altre compagnie) quando invece siamo arrivati al porto ci è stato detto che la durata era di due ore. Questo non è corretto dal momento che sul sito è espressamente scritto mezza giornata e se fosse stato specificato non avremmo sicuro prenotato con voi essendo il prezzo di due volte superiore ad altre compagnie. In aggiunta a loro non sono arrivate in tempo molte delle prenotazioni effettuate online quindi ci stiamo ritrovati in troppi e ci hanno fatto partire con un'altra compagnia dove la barca era molto meno bella di quella che avevamo prenotato e per cui avevamo pagato. Il giro in se era carino ma la prossima volta con un'altra compagnia e sicuramente ad un altro prezzo.
Buongiorno, in effetti sul sito era rimasta la dicitura che descriveva la mezza giornata anziché le due ore e su questo la ringraziamo e abbiamo provveduto a correggere. Riguardo al prezzo, questo è il più conveniente e competitivo, normalmente su altri siti si trova a Euro 55. Riguardo al momentaneo overbooking, queste sono cose che possono succedere in agosto soprattutto su una barca che ha solo 17 posti a bordo, l'importante è la gestione dell'emergenza e il fatto che l'escursione sia stata effettuata. Saremmo stati felici se ci avesse contattati durante o subito dopo il tour in modo da poter compensare istantaneamente le eventuali insoddisfazioni. Ora è troppo tardi e siete già partiti. Ci dispiace, in quanto la nostra azienda è focalizzata da sempre sulla soddisfazione dei propri clienti. Nel futuro saremo sempre disponibili. Un saluto dalla Sicilia, SAT Group

Esperienza fantastica: Мы ездили в тур Этна-Алькантара. С компанией быстрая коммуникация по почте в рабочие часы. Забирают не только в Таормине, а также в Джардини-Наксос. В туре всё понравилось. Гид всё объяснял. К сожалению, поезд, который был включён в поездку, задержался на 40 минут. Это не вина туристической компании, но просто нужно иметь в виду, что так может быть. Я переживала, что из-за этого мало времени останется на вулкан Этна, но гид добавил там время из-за задержки. В итоге мы успели забраться наверх и даже посмотреть один из боковых кратеров. Наверху в конце июня мы арендовывали куртки, потому что дул сильный ветер. Большинство так не сделало, было грустно на них смотреть. Самый насыщенный тур из всех предлагаемых поездок на Этну. Нам понравилось, потому что мы так и хотели.

Esperienza fantastica: Great tour provider. Would definitely recommend the Mount Etna upper craters and Alcantara Gorges tour. The start of the tour was punctual. Our tour guide Franco gave us information about almost everything we saw during the bus ride. We were also able to ask him very specific questions about Sicily in English. We enjoyed seeing the Alcantara Gorges, which we had an hour and a half time for. This was followed up by a relaxing ride with a train around the north of Etna. Afterwards the bus picked us up again and took us to the cable carts. Due to snow and bad weather the 4x4 weren't driving. Our guide informed SAT immediately and because of this the SAT group gave as a partial refund. So, instead of driving up to the upper craters, joined by professional guides, we just strolled around at lower altitudes by ourselves. All in all, the trip is relaxing, the only part that took some effort is the Etna hike.

Esperienza fantastica: Grazie ad una serie di curiose coincidenze, ho approfittato di un invito per ritornare a Taormina dopo molti anni. Come prima cosa sapevo che avrei voluto ritornare sull’Etna, perché le emozioni che mi aveva lasciato quella prima escursione nel lontano 1999 erano ancora vivide nonostante i decenni trascorsi. Ho usufruito dei servizi dell'agenzia Sat che già conoscevo e la loro puntualità e professionalità è stata una piacevole conferma. Durante il tragitto a bordo di un van dell'agenzia, la nostra guida Marco ci ha coinvolto con le sue spiegazioni e preparati a ciò che avremmo trovato. Vedere il cambiamento del paesaggio, a mano a mano che si sale, è sorprendente: sembra davvero di avviarsi lungo la strada per un altro pianeta! Una volta arrivati a destinazione siamo stati accolti da altre guide che sapientemente ci hanno condotto lungo i percorsi accessibili, permettendoci di vivere un'esperienza impagabile. Il silenzio e la maestosità del vulcano ti penetrano nei pori della pelle e ti trasportano in una dimensione senza eguali. Forse sembrerò esagerata, ma la sensazione generale che si respira camminando su quella sabbia nera è esattamente questa. Anche le tre giovani ragazze, che un po’ forzosamente avevo invitato a partecipare all’escursione, sono rimaste incantate da quanto hanno visto e grate di essere state portate fin lassù! Non posso che consigliare caldamente questa escursione!

Esperienza positiva: Wir habe eine Tagestour rund um den Ätna gemacht. Nette Reiseführerin, welche die Gruppe aber nicht überallhin begleitet (Alcantara-Schlucht, Ätna-Gipfelregion). Negativ: Der Eintritt in die Alcantara-Schlucht war nicht inbegriffen (9 Euro zusätzlich), wird im Reiseprogramm nicht erwähnt. Auf dem Ätna gab es keine Zeit, selbständig auf den höchsten Punkt zu laufen, was schade war. Der Preis von 95 Euro beinhaltet Busfahrt ab Hotelnähe und zurück, kurzweilige 1-stündige Bahnfahrt und Gondelbahn mit Jeepfahrt beim Ätna. Das Preis-/Leistunsverhältnis ist insgesamt ok, aber nicht überragend. In Recaniti wo wir waren hatten wir für diese Tour ausserhalb der Saison keine anderen Optionen von anderen Touranbietern.

The extra entrance to the Alcantara gorges is well stated on our brochures and it is facoltative and not an obligation. The tours is all scheduled to give enough time to enjoy Etna at the summit area as well as at the foot. Starting from 6.30 and ending around 17.30, we believe it more than enough time. Warm regards. Esperienza positiva: We participated in the cooking class in Taormina. There were 20 people and one chef. We went to the market and he bought the vegetables he needed for our recipe. There was no explanation of the market. There was no salami and cheese tasting. At the end of the class there was no certificate and no signed apron. On the other hand, the chef wax very good and helpful in his instruction. The restaurant was a quaint outdoor patio.

The cheese and salami tasting is postponed during the lunch since the shop at the local market has closed some weeks ago. Esperienza positiva: I’m hesitant a little bit about my opinion. I took part in Etna basic tour. I paid 40€. Let’s start with the beginning of my trip. The bus came on time. The tour guide, Aleksandra, spoke in three languages: Italian, German, English. In my opinion it was a little bit too much. She gave basic information about the island and the Etna. The trip to the mountain took 2 hours and then we had 3 hours of free time. The guid said that we can pay more and take a jeep higher or we can stay where we are and explore on our own. I decided to stay and explore lateral craters.I strongly recommend it. The trip back was delayed because some guests were late and we waited for them. I think 40€ is a lot, especially because it is only a transport to Etna but I think it is worth to see.

We also invite you to consider that there is no public buses from Taormina, only private transportation so this is the price from/to Taormina. Esperienza fantastica: Vandaag de excursie Alcantara - Mount Etna met de SAT group gedaan. Gids Alexandra heeft de dag mede tot een succes gemaakt. Ze heeft een prettige stem en dito karakter. Ze geeft in drie talen weer dat ze enorm veel kennis heeft over Sicilië en de omgeving van Mount Etna. Ze presenteert dit op een hele prettige en toegankelijke manier. De dag is goed georganiseerd en er zijn voldoende rustpauzes en mogelijkheden om iets te eten en gebruik te maken van de toiletten ter plaatse De omgeving van Mount Etna is fabuleus, zeker als je de optie kiest om met kabelbaan en 4x4 trucks tot bijna 2800 meter te gaan. Ook een woord van dank aan chauffeur Guiseppe. Wij voelden ons erg veilig bij hem in de bus. Niet onbelangrijk in het hectische verkeer en de smalle wegen. Deze excursie bij SAT Group Taormina is zeker een aanrader!

Esperienza negativa: I'm sorry. I did not get a receipt. I do belive I was cheated today. 9-14-2022. It was explained to me that the Eruro is 1.17 to American dollars. I just checked, it's $.98! So, for $400.00, I received in Euros 349 and some change at 1.17. HELLO! I really wish I had gotten a receipt.

Secondly, since our Exchange Bureau is not a bank and we are the only ones in town to change money in Taormina, we charge a commission of 4.95% that is well visible on a board outside in our shop window and is related to the heavy handling fee we have to face for this service. In any case we are always very flexible in case of big amount of money so we are sorry you did not ask to negotiate. No one, in fact, forced you to change the dollars, so why complaining after? Esperienza negativa: Stromboli/Panarea Tour ist für diesen Preis absolut nicht zu empfehlen. Über eine Stunde mit dem Bus und 2 Stunden am Schiff bis man bei Panarea abgeladen wird. STROMBOLI war seit 10 Tagen gesperrt, diese Info wurde beim buchen nicht mitgeteilt. Zurück dann 1 Stunde und 45 Minuten im komplett überfüllten und stinkenden Schiff.
We are sorry for this review but we find it unfair, for several reasons. First of all, the price for our cruise to Panarea & Stromboli is very convenient for a 13 hours tour that brings you to the most faraway islands of Sicily. Secondly, we do believe that it is not a long trip to the port of Milazzo, since it is only one hour and it is the main harbour for the islands. Thirdly, once received the communication of the Mayor of the islands that was closing the entrance to Stromboli, we have informed all our customers, but, since we were dealing with hundreds of customers, it can happen that some information did not get to destination. Last but not least, the situation regarding Stromboli was changing day by day, minute by minute since they were cleaning the streets as fastest as they could and in substitution of the free time on Stromboli we have given double free time on Panarea, 4 hours.

Esperienza negativa: Ich rate ab. Immense Preise und schlechte Leistung. Ausflug Panarea/Stromboli: Schiff war so voll gekracht, mehrere Hundert Leute, dass sehr sehr viele stehen müssen. Über 2 Stunden dauert die Überfahrt. Blick zum Stromboli praktisch nicht möglich, wenn sich mehrere Hundert Menschen an wenig Meter Reling quetschen. Bitte unterstützt das nicht weiter, dass SAT dafür Geld bekommt.

Secondly, our prices are the most convenient, considering that if you travel by private boat you would pay several thousand euros. Esperienza positiva: Wir haben zwei Touren gebucht, eine davon zum Ätna (Volles Programm inkl. Seilbahn & Guide) die andere zu den Äolischen Inseln. Beide Touren waren toll und die Erlebnisse die geboten wurden waren sehr schön. Den besten Job machte unsere Tourguidin Aleksandra, die auf beiden Touren dabei war. Sie ist superfreundlich, versorgt einen mit tollen Informationen und hat immer ein Lachen im Gesicht. Die Organisation durch Aleksandra klappte an allen Orten perfekt. Einen Punkt Abzug, da ich die Zeit auf den Äolischen Inseln sehr knapp fand! Lieber ein bißchen früher losfahren und dafür die Inseln mehr genießen!

Esperienza negativa: We paid for a trip that promised to take us up to 3000 m altitude and we only had 2 stops at 2 craters with 2 guides. The lady waiting for us did not explain exactly the steps we need to take to get to the top. Everything seemed disorganized for such a large amount: 95 euros. We were not informed that we could not climb the mountain because the volcano was active.

Regarding the altitude reached on Mount Etna, this is depending on the violent eruption going on since few months. That is why we cannot reach 3000 metres and reach about 2800 metres for safety reason. In any case you could not climb to the top.
As written on our General Conditions of all tours , the ascents to Etna’s authorized crater areas are always escorted by guides of the CAI (Italian Alpine Club), who are responsible for the safety of the travelers and are subordinated to the decisions of the relevant authorities in relation to the daily changes of volcanic activity that affect the altitude reached. Esperienza negativa: Pessima esperienza con l'escursione Panarea e Stromboli. Siamo stati stipati sulla nave, eravamo talmente in tanti che non c'era nemmeno un posto a sedere per tutti nė ci si poteva muovere volendo fare qualche foto. Quindi o eri fortunato ed eri seduto dal lato che della nave che stava costeggiando le isole oppure vedevi solo il mare e addio foto E poi perché partire così tardi al mattino? A Panarea la spiaggia è lontana dal porto e il tempo lasciato a disposizione non permette nemmeno di raggiungerla per un bagno. Basterebbe partire un po' prima e fare una sosta più lunga. Peccato perché le isole sono dei gioielli e l'escursione fatta in questo modo ti lascia l'amaro in bocca per non essere riuscito ad apprezzarle appieno. Per il resto nulla da dire. Il viaggio in pullman è confortevole, le spiegazioni sono state chiare, il personale della nave è cordiale e gentile
Gentilissima Rita, ci dispiace leggere che l'esperienza sulla nostra mini crociera è stata soddisfacente a metà. Questa mini crociera esplora due isole, Panarea e Stromboli, nonché da la possibilità di ammirare le esplosioni del vulcano attivo di Stromboli in notturna, per questa ragione la partenza è stata progettata alle 10.00 altrimenti la durata del tour sarebbe eccessiva. L'affollamento menzionato dipende dal picco di stagione. Tutte le capienze sulle navi vengono assolutamente rispettate sempre e comunque. Esperienza positiva: Forse I prezzi sono un po' onerosi per una famiglia, però fare la gita con la guida che è sempre disponibile a spiegarti passo passo ogni cosa ha un valore aggiunto. I tempi per visitare i luoghi li trovo giusti, specialmente se hai a seguito un bambino che si stanca facilmente. Unico neo: nell'escursione Lipari e Vulcano, sarebbe meglio lasciare del tempo per fare il bagno a Lipari anziché a vulcano, le cui acque ho trovato più sporche e gli arenili meno comfortevoli rispetto a Lipari. Nel complesso, un buon servizio, ci siamo divertiti molto!

Volevo lodare il suo interesse e cura costante verso ogni passeggero:ha telefonato alle persone assenti prima di partire (cosa mai fatta dagli altri). Esperienza fantastica: Went on a tour of Stromboli and Panera. Got picked up by a coach from Taormina bus station. Good tour guide, very knowledgeable and gave lots of information. Had plenty of time on the islands and even got to see a minor eruption from Stromboli at night. Bring warm clothing, can get quite chilly at night on the boat. Overall it was a long day but we had a great time.

Esperienza negativa: Abbiamo fatto l'escursione del mercoledì gole Alcantara + Etna. Bus doppio tutto esaurito, forse un po' troppe persone per una sola guida, la quale ogni volta ripeteva tutte le spiegazione in italiano inglese e tedesco: un supplizio. Prima tappa gole dell'Alcantara, posto abbandonato a se stesso, biglietto d'ingresso non incluso nel prezzo dell'escursione quindi se non vuoi entrare ( perché veramente non me vale la pena) devi aspettare un'ora sul Pullman. Successivamente è previsto un viaggio di circa 45 minuti su un treno della circumetnea: treno vecchi, sovraffollato e senza aria condizionata che ti porta da Randazzo a Adrano passando per Bronte, ma non è che si veda un gran paesaggio a parte la vegetazione. Arrivati a Adrano il pullman riparte in direzione rifugio Sapienza da dove inizia la parte migliore dell'escursione, infatti prendendo la funicolare si può salire a 2500 metri dove le guide alpine del Cai con delle Jeep vi portano sulla sommità dei crateri e vi fanno da guida con ottime spiegazioni. Quindi vi conviene prenotare soltanto l'escursione che vi porta sul solo vulcano.
Gentile Francesco, con un certo rammarico, leggiamo alcune perplessità verso alcuni aspetti del nostro tour denominato “Etna Giro Alcantara” che rappresenta una vera e propria pietra miliare della nostra azienda.
Il nome di questo tour racconta già lo svolgimento del programma.
La nostra azienda, infatti, propone quattro diverse escursioni sull'Etna e questa, in particolare, esplora tutta la base dell'Etna comprendendo tutte le parti peculiari, come le Gole dell'Alcantara. Il viaggio con il treno Circumetnea è da considerarsi “un salto nel passato” poiché il treno è esattamente lo stesso del passato e la maggior parte dei nostri clienti apprezza questo senso del "vintage”.
Tutti i tour sull'Etna includono una sosta a 1900 metri con il tempo sufficiente per fare la salita.
Ovviamente l'Etna Basic Tour è più focalizzato solo sull'Etna quindi sarebbe stato importante, al momento della prenotazione, chiarire la tua preferenza per offrirti il tour giusto. Esperienza negativa: We were picked up near our hotel in Giardini-Naxos at 6:45am and the double decker bus continued into Taormina to pick up the remaining passengers. The bus was FULL and the tour was conducted in English, German and Italian by the one tour guide. In hindsight this would have been better to have headsets or two languages, one on each floor of the bus as you would tune out the languages that don't concern you and you may miss interesting information when the tour guide starts speaking your language again. Our guide was Francesco and our driver, Enzo. The tour starts about 7am and gets to the first stop, the Alcantara gorges, a canyon created by a lava flow that was cooled rapidly by a flowing river. The area was cool to look at but a natural Park like this should not be charged each just to enter and look at it in our opinion. After 1.5 hours here, we continued to the town of Randazzo to catch the circumetnea train which takes you around the North side of Etna to Adrano. You then meet up again with Enzo to finally make your way up to Etna at 2500 metres. The whole train and circling around Etna is a tease and could have been skipped to be honest. Once at Rifugio Giovanni Sapienza, you have three hours to do as you wish (we thought our ticket said 4 hours so were disappointed). We may have had longer on Etna if it weren't for the delays in the train note on the 60 people getting on and off the bus so many times. You can go up the cable car to 2700metres and then a jeep ride to 2900m where you will meet a volcanologist who will take you to the 2001/2 craters. If you had purchased the cable car as part of your ticket then you do not pay extra. We did not have this option when purchasing our ticket so it cost 60€ each to do cable car and Jeep ride. This is a must do! We review mount Etna separately and give this part of the trip 5 stars. We got back to our bus at 4pm and had rude passengers making us move seats so they could sit at the front and felt as though the trip at mount Etna was too short for our liking. If you just intend on seeing Etna, choose an Etna only tour. 3 hours on Etna vs 10 hour tour is not a great ratio for us. We got home at 6pm.
Hello Joanna, with a certain regret, we read some perplexities towards some aspects of our tour called “Etna Round Alcantara” which is a real milestone of our company.
The name of this tour already tells about the carrying out of the program.
As a matter of fact, our company offers four different excursions to Mount Etna and this one, in particular, is exploring the whole foot of Etna in a circle including all peculiar parts, such as the Alcantara Gorges. The ride by the Circumetnea train has to be considered “a leap into the past” since the train is exactly the same as it was and most of our clients appreciate this “old style mood”.
All Etna tours are including a stop at 1900 metres with time enough to do the ascent.
Of course the Etna Basic Tour is more focused on Etna only so it would have been important, at the booking moment, to clarify your preference in order to offer you the right tour. Esperienza negativa: Really a waste of time. Mt. Etna tour was terrible. Note: Mt. Etna itself is awesome and my review there is 5 star. This review is for the tour up to and from Etna. We were happy to hear this tour had a pickup not far from our hotel in Taormina beach. So that was a good start. At 6.45am the bus picked us up so it was all good to start. Once we got everyone we soon realised we had one tour guide to 60 people. Then we found out this tour was in three languages so everything the tour guide said, he had to say 3 times. This meant for the whole tour it was constant talking and we missed so much because he was talking in Italian or German then would switch to English to say something then back to another language. I understand other languages need to be accommodated but this system they use doesn't work. Quick Fix would be either hire more tour guides to speak one to a smaller group or give everyone a headset. Then the guide could speak to the English channel or the German channel and others wouldn't have to listen to it. It was heaven when after 2 hours, he stopped talking. I'm sure his info is great but listening to sometime speak over a PA system for hours on end killed me. Now due to the large tour group, we never got to ask the guide any questions plus there were so many delays waiting for everyone. We ended up running quite late over the day (more to follow on that). The tour started by going to Gole Alcantara. This entry cost isn't included in the tour. I wrote a review on how poor this place is but if you don't want to do this, too bad! SAT literally will tell you to wait for 90mins and do nothing. You have no choice but to waste either time or money here. Then next stop is at a train. We found this strange as the idea was to get on a train, go along and then get off and meet the bus at the end. The train was delayed and we had another delay getting back into the bus and the train ride was literally a normal public train. There was Zero point to it as the bus beat us to the next spot. Why not just save time and stay on the bus? Pointless. So now the tour is running late but after listening to the guide talk constantly again we make it to Etna late. This bus left at 8am and we arrive at Etna at 1pm! 5 hours of time wasted getting there. Instead of the advertised 4 hours at Etna, we now had 3 because SAT can't manage their time. 3 hours isn't long enough. We missed out on seeing some things because we had to be back on the bus. The trip back took an hour. Why did we go the longest path to get to Etna and waste so much time when we could have been there in an hour?!?! Etna is awesome, but find a better way to get there. Hire a car and drive yourself. It will cost the same but will be faster and less annoying.
Hello Adam, as written on the answer to your wife above, it is very important to choose the right tour. Each customer has his own suitable tour. If you were not interested in a coach tour that goes all around the foot of Etna before getting to the top, you should have chosen the Etna Basic tour and not the Etna Round Alcantara as they are totally different. It is your interest to select the right product for you.
If you do not like to be with many other people, with a multilingual tour guide service or the destinations provided on the tour itself, you should not buy the tour or choose something else. All the very best, Customer Care Manager SAT Group
Esperienza negativa: Beim Urlaubsbilder anschauen ist mir eingefallen, dass ich unbedingt noch eine Bewertung für August letzten Jahres schreiben wollte, als wir mit dem Sat Unternehmen für 35€ pro Person zum Etna gefahren sind. Der Bus kam erst die ganze Zeit nicht. Während der Fahrt erzählte die Reisebegleiterin etwas, aber anscheinend gab es technische Probleme mit dem Mikrofon oder den Lautsprechern, dass man weder auf der Hinfahrt, noch auf der Rückfahrt akustisch etwas von dem verstehen konnte. Als wir ankamen waren wir erstmal total überfordert, weil wir gar nicht wussten, wo wir jetzt lang gehen durften und wo nicht. Wir standen mitten zwischen vielen Shops. Die beiden unteren Krater, die man von hier sicherlich zu Fuß erreichen konnte, sind uns erst auf der Rückfahrt aufgefallen. Die Reisebegleitung war nicht mehr ansprechbar, weil sie nur noch Sorge hatte die Premiumkunden, die nach ganz oben wollten in die Schlange für die Seilbahn zu bekommen und sie nach vorne zu drängeln, weil sonst nicht mehr genug Zeit für deren Tour gewesen wäre. Also schlossen wir uns der Masse an und fuhren mit der Seilbahn hoch (extra Kostenpunkt). Von da an machten wir uns einfach selbst ohne Guide auf den Weg und schafften es auch einen Krater auf eigene Faust zu finden. Die Zeit war aber so knapp getimed, dass wir ständig auf die Uhr schauen mussten, um ja pünktlich wieder zurück zu sein. Die Leute, die die komplette Tour gebucht hatten und von dem oberen Punkt der Seilbahn noch mit den Bussen bis nach ganz oben weitergefahren sind hatten nicht einmal Zeit um Mittag zu essen. Dazu hatten wir so wenigsten 10 Minuten. Fazit : Es ist günstiger, freundlicher und stressfreier sich ein Auto zu mieten und selbst hin zu fahren. Wahrscheinlich würde man so sogar mehr von der schönen Gegend dort mitbekommen. Für uns war es nur eine überteuerte stressgeladene Busfahrt mit Zusatzkosten.

In any case, it is well explained that customers who choose the option to stay at 1900 altitude have to wait for those ones who reach the 3000 meters altitude.They have free time at your disposal to visit the Silvestri's craters, have lunch or do some shopping. Many customers do some trekking in the area and enjoy the experience. Besides that, customers are always invited to get all information they need in order to buy the appropriate tour. Esperienza negativa: Wir hatten eine Tour nach Syracus gebucht, um das antike griechische Theater zu besichtigen. Was man uns bei Buchung verschwiegen hat, war, dass das Theater im April komplett für Aufführungen verkleidet wird, so das man dort nur eine Holzverschalung und diverse Handwerker beim arbeiten besichtigen kann. Das ist gegenüber den Kunden nicht fair gelaufen. Ein guter Anbieter weist auf solche Dinge hin. Tipp: bei jeder Buchung bei SAT Group vor Bezahlung nachfragen.

Esperienza negativa: The German guide on the bus spoke with a very strange and heavy accent and gabbled the poor English with no pauses so her sentences made no sense. On arrival at Etna she became very bad tempered when most people asked her questions as they had not understood her instructions. Also, on booking the tour we were told the guide would point out where it was best to go to see the craters, lava etc. but when I asked her she just shrugged her shoulders and said "the whole park" in a sarcastic manner. She remained completely silent on the return trip when she could have added a few interesting details about the area. You are really only paying for the coach ride there.
