Esperienza fantastica: Last week’s private guided tour to Rome was simply enthralling! All kudos to Robert, our English-speaking trained local guide, who thoroughly customized our entire itinerary! With skip-the-line priority tickets, we avoided the lengthy queues and teeming crowds with faster access to magnificent Roman landmarks. We were fortunate to tickle our taste buds with appetizing local cuisines while tasting the rare Roman wines! We strongly recommend Tour in the City for fellow travelers!

Esperienza negativa: My one star is for the tour guide who was a sweetheart . If you book with them, you better pray they dont mess anything up, because if they do they do not take accountability or offer any help. Our tickets were put in incorrectly by the office and they pretty much said “sucks to suck” and offered no insight, advice, help, etc. Seriously, take caution when booking with them.

Esperienza negativa: Bought a guided tour for 65 euro per person, got cancelled last minute. Got offered a tour without a personal guide for a 20 euro discount (which is a rip off, the official audio-guide ticket is cheaper), just to revert back 2 minutes later and not offering any plan b at all. Not recommended in case you really want to see the colosseum.

Esperienza negativa: Stay away! Booked Colosseum, Palatine Hill and Roman Forum Guided Tour through Booking.com for 2 people and had it confirmed. However, about an hour before the tour I got an email saying that there is place for one person only. Totally unacceptable as I couldn’t find tickets elsewhere because was too short notice. Oh, on top of it the money would only be refunded between 3-10 days, so that was another poor service from them. Thank you for ruining the experience.

Esperienza negativa: Avoid these people at all cost! A Group of 19 people where escorted to the Vatican. The guide was ignorant right from the start. We were given ear phones when we entered. They where useless unless you were within 10 feet of the guide. The guide literally jogged though the first half quickly pointing at things talking gibberish, loosing people on the way. We complained and he just ignored us and kept going . Once we were down to 10 people we stopped just before the chapel he took our ear peices and said he was going back to look for the other people. He went forward out the exit and took off. The group waited 30 minutes for him to return. He didn't. We wanted to proceed to the chapel as a group but they will not let you in without a guide. We all went back to their office and complained. The called the guide in and he basically told us off. More of the group came in and there where about 15 fighting for our money back. They told us we got the speed pass and in so to bad so said. We didn't get to see hardly anything and it was terrible. Our dream turned into a nightmare. We all agreed we are going to rebrooke our credit cards. Worst experience ever.

Esperienza negativa: Had a terrible experience today with this tour guide company. We booked them the night before our trip to Rome from Napoli via viator.com They don’t provide you with a digital copy of your ticket. Instead, they give you a voucher that you need to present to the tour guide to redeem your ticket. Our tour was scheduled for 3pm and the voucher said we needed to meet at their location at 2:30pm. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing construction and poor internet service we had a difficult time finding the place. Even with their instructions that are found on the voucher, it was very difficult being that we are not from Rome. We managed to get to the meet up location by 2:38pm. At this time there were three individuals in front of us; all of which were also there for the 3pm tour guide. The man at the counter was telling them that it was too late to join the tour even though it didn’t start until 3pm and the colosseum is only a short distance from their location. They could’ve easily called the guide and informed him that we were on the way especially because there is only one entrance to the colosseum. Instead, the man behind the counter was being short and unprofessional. Rather than finding a solution he kept telling us there was nothing he could do even though we had already paid for our tickets. We ended up walking out and buying a general admission and we learned that the guided tour plus the admission is nowhere near what these people tried to charge us.

Esperienza negativa: AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! We booked a Colosseum tour through Viator which was going to be conducted by Tour In The City. Our tour was booked for 1300. At 1015, they started calling and texting to see if we would accept an 1100 tour because they hadn’t met the minimum for the 1300. We were on a Vatican tour at that time. They would not honor our original time and instead only offered a full refund. We did not get to see the Colosseum because of this company’s greed and lack of planning. Since Stefano wants to continue his poor customer service…they did reach back out at 2pm (after I had posted the original review) and offered tickets for an unguided tour at 3pm. Not only we’re we not near the colosseum, we had another event at 1600. And, yes, Stefano, I do have the formula for perfection, be honest, honor the times you advertise and don’t cover your mistakes with further half truths! I hope everyone avoids your company…I’ve also notified viator of your actions.

Esperienza fantastica: The tour was excellent. Visited the place yesterday with my friend. The tour guide was knowledgeable and kept our attention. I'm a history lover so it was a fascinating experience learning about the history of the Romans. There were security checks before entry into different archaeological areas but I think that's standard procedure by the Colosseum staff. Highly recommended.

Esperienza fantastica: Thanks to this tour company I was able to secure a skip the line ticket to Vatican museum & Sistine Chapel. Our guide, Massimo was excellent & very informative with an added cheeky sense of humour. This Tour company goes out of its way to accommodate travellers, who, like me, don’t plan well in advance during a very busy & extended tourist season. I spent 5 hours at this location/s, & was glad I extended my stay in Rome to do so. An absolute must see.

Esperienza fantastica: The tour was really good. While i can’t remember our tourguide’s name (i’m terrible with names… Serena?), she did an amazing job! She was very knowledgeable, caring for the group making not to leave anyone behind. She gave us lots of « fun facts » about the forum, palatine hill, and the colloseum. I recommend this tour without hesitation (and i hope you fall on Serena - hoping i remembered her name right).

Esperienza fantastica: HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! We had a tour booked for the Colosseum with another company. They cancelled our tour 12 hours prior to the start time and offered no option to reschedule. Somehow we found tickets with Tour in the City for the same day. The tour we ended up going on was fantastic, our guide was Evis and she did an amazing job walking us through history, she really knows her stuff!!! We had a great time.

Esperienza negativa: Kollosseum Untergrund (U-Bahn) mit maximal 10 Personen (7.04.22) Die Tour, die von Tour in the City angeboten wird, ist im Grunde ein Wiederverkauf der offiziellen Tour vom Kollosseum (Full Experience mit Palatine und Formum Romanum ohne Fuehrung) plus Zusatzleistungen. Allerdings war der zweite Teil der Tour, die offizielle Version, dann mit 20 Personen anstatt des Angebotes, also entgegen des Kaufvertrages via GetYourGuide. Ablauf: Treffen ausserhalb oberhalb der Metro vor dem Parkeingang. Zuerst trafen wir eine Dame die unseren Namen auf einer Liste registrierte und uns auf 11:30, dem Start verwies. Wir koennten noch ins Cafe, da wir mit 10:55 frueh ankamen. Wir blieben aber in der Naehe und trafen dann Stefano, dem Guide, dachten wir jedenfalls. Tour1: (von Tour in the City durchgefuehrt) Diese startete dann doch sehr spontan um ca. 11:10. Von Stefano bekamen wir eine ca. 5 minuetige Erlauterung zum Kollesseum an einer Strassenecke gegenueber. Warum das nicht am Sammelpunkt im oder vor dem Park durchgefuehrt wurde, erschliesst sich mir nicht. So ging einiges im Strassenlaerm unter und wir standen anderen im Weg. Dann ging es sportlich mit ihm die Treppe runter in das Kollosseum. Am Treffpunkt fuer Gruppen wurden wir dann abgestellt. Kurz danach uebergab er uns die Audio Receiver und die normalen Tickets vom Kollosseum und verabschiedete sich. Tour 2: (vom Kollosseum Personal) Eigentlich hat diese nichts mit Tour in the City zu tun. Waehrend der Wartezeit auf den wirklichen Guide gesellten sich andere Personen zu uns die nicht via Tour in the City gebucht hatten. Unser Guide war eine junge kompetente Dame die uns durch den Untergrund fuehrte. Wir hatten oft Probleme mit dem Audio Receivern und konnten "dank" der grossen Anzahl auch nicht naeher an unsere Fuehrerin. So hoerten wir oft jemand anders sprechen und verpassten einiges. Mit 10 Personen waere das besser gewesen. Bewertung: Dieses ist die zweite Version eins Reviews, da meine erste Version dem Anbieter zu direkt war. Jedenfalls kann ich die Antwort mit einfliessen lassen. Es ist wirklich ein Wiederverkauf von offiziellen Tickets auf eigenes Risiko und das erklaere auch den Preis. Lt. deren Aussage habe sich die offizielle Gruppenanzahl von Kollosseum genau in den letzten Tagen verdoppelt und deshalb passte es nicht mehr. Und da die Tour nicht von "Tour in the City" durchgefuehrt wird habe man keine Handhabe. Von der Dame des Kolloeseum bekamen wir die Information dass man Wiederverkaeufe ungern saehe und versucht zu unterbinden. Diese stuenden dann nicht mehr zum normalen Preis zur Verfuegung.

La guida (Gabriele Cavallini) molto preparata e coinvolgente, ci ha regalato proprio una bella esperienza. Pagato in questo caso circa 30 euro per 3 ore di guida, saltando le lunghissime code. Consigliato.

Esperienza fantastica: Toured the Collosseum, Palatine Hill, and Roman Forum. Adnan the guide was fantastic, engaging speaker and brought the history to life. Unfortunately the group was a little slow and the Forum was closing right when we got there but that's not anyone's fault and still got an interesting tour from one of the areas.

Esperienza negativa: Tour check in staff is especially rude (Especially Nada, not sure if we caught her on a bad day or if shes always especially terrible, I could write days about how unprofessional & rude she was ) . We got lost trying to find the location, called multiple times and no one answered the phone to help us. When we arrived (at the time of the tour) we were told our tickets were invalid because we weren't 30 minutes early. We paid to "rebook" the exact same tour and entry fee, and when we arrived (45 minutes) early for our rebooked tour, was told we didn't have a reservation. We had to wait specifically for Nada, (since she rebooked us) to "find" our second reservation. While we were waiting for our second tour to start, we listened to several paying parties get turned away because they weren't 30 minutes early. Terrible service for a dime a dozen tour experience. 0/10 would not recommend.

Esperienza negativa: We were not given the correct full details of the tour prior to purchase and if we were we would've passed. We booked for the Colosseum with Palestine Hill and Roman Forum after being told the tour would be 2 hours. About 2.5 hours before our tour was scheduled to start we were told the time was changed to 1:30 pm. Didn't think it was a big deal at first thinking we'd just be done an hour later at 3:30 rather than 2:30. Well after being with the tour guide in the Colosseum for an hour we were told that it would be 90 minutes until the next part of the tour would start and to meet a different guide outside at 4:25. So yes both tours were an hour but we were not told that they would be pieced together from two totally seperate tours with a 90 minute intermission. We had to leave the second tour shortly after it began because we didn't plan for this supposed 2 hour tour to take upwards of 5 hours. We basically paid for a tour we didn't even have the time to take because the operator wasn't truthful. $55 euros to be given a hour history lesson while standing in the same spot. We wasted A LOT of money.

Esperienza fantastica: Our tour person was Simona Mariotti very informative and funny tour guide she was very knowledgeable of the site in this case we visited the Colosseum and the forums, she gave us very deep historical information on both sites and made the tour very pleasantly and funny.

Esperienza fantastica: Ali found us looking lost outside the Colosseum and managed to get us on a Tour in plenty of time (we had plans at 6pm). He was extremely helpful and friendly. Julio took us on a tour of the Colosseum - he was hilarious, knowledgeable and engaging. I can't thank him enough for making the experience so great! Simona took us around the Palatine Hill and again was very friendly and knowledgeable. An amazing experience all round

Esperienza fantastica: We really enjoyed our Tour with Simona, she was very knowledgeable and gave us a great overall background to Roman times as well as lots of specifics and interesting extra info about the colosseum, gladiators, palatine hill and the forum. She went at a great pace and looked after us like we were her ducklings, I especially appreciated her bringing us to the ‘nicest’ public restroom, haha. We booked online for the double tour (colosseum + palatine hill and forum) and found everything quite well organised. They give you a headphone and audio thing so you can always hear your guide which is great in crowded areas. Going through the tour guide line rather than the regular line saves A LOT of time at the colosseum so that’s also a huge plus. Overall I’m so glad we did this tour, we learned loads more than we would have on our own.

Esperienza negativa: My friend and I were disappointed with the lack of transparency of this company. Their “man on the ground” hustled us and told us for the colosseum tour we would get to see both the colosseum and the Roman forum, as well as get to go to places that people without a guide could not go. These were two important selling points for us, the only reason we thought spending the extra money was worth it, and neither promise was fulfilled. When the tour of the colosseum ended, we asked our guide about the forum and we received a less than satisfying answer that we could return the next day for another tour. Unfortunately our time in Rome was limited and this wouldn’t work for us. In addition, we found the colosseum tour mediocre—I believe we could have learned more if we just paid the admission and read the given information. Instead we were rushed around the area with a lot of silence and a few fun facts, and we definitely did not go anywhere limited to those with a guide as was promised. For this reason, even if we had the time for the other tour, we wouldn’t be interested in participating. We ended up accepting that it’s money lost. I am writing this review so others don’t get deceived like we did. It wasn’t worth the money.

Esperienza positiva: Our first tour guide for Colosseum was incredibly knowledgeable and very welcoming. His name was Ferdinando. Amazing and very much recommend. The history was told to us in such a beautiful way that we were reliving it as we toured the building.The reason for my three star rating was because of our second tour guide, Katia. She ruined the rest of our tour with her fake attitude. She knew very little about the palatine hill ruins and could not even relay the message of each place properly. It would have been fine had not she been terribly rude. As a tour guide she needs to inform us of what the tour consists of. My father has a medical condition and she did not inform us that there would be many stairs and climbing, so he chose to stay back in the beginning. She did not even notice he was gone from the group until we were halfway done (even though he informed ALL of us and her right before) and she chose to be very vocal about how we will not be ending at the same place we started. Again, had she informed us, we would have thought of options. Our first tour guide was very considerate about everyone’s needs and disabilities. She had told us that at the end, we would need to follow her to meet my father at the beginning of the first tour place (30 min walk from the beginning of the second tour). Alas, at the end she could not even wait five minutes for my father to return his radio and she left us stranded somewhere in the middle to run to her next tour and we had to find a way back to my father and then give the radio to one of the stations along the roads. She also did the same mistreatment to another family in our group.

Esperienza fantastica: Maximillian did a great tour! For only 30 Euro, we did the Collesium and Forum. He was very knowledgable and made the 3-hour tour a great experience. They gave us radios connected to the tour guide's speaker so I didn't miss a word. This is by-far the best way to experience this ancient Roman site.

Esperienza negativa: Our tour guide mumbled through the 3 hours with his head down. It’s clear he had no real interest or motivation other than to repeat the script. No response to the email I sent the company. Pick another tour guide service.

Esperienza fantastica: On a very hot day, our guide Simona gave us an informative and good humoured tour of the colloseum, Palantine Hill and the Forum. Well worth the skip the line tour as the colloseum only allows 2000 visitors at a time.

Esperienza negativa: I am giving this 2 stars mainly because our guide did not give us a tour of the Roman Forum as advertised here. He left abruptly after Palatine Hill, saying he had to go to another tour. We missed a tour of one of the most fascinating parts of this area and were left on our own. Our group was stunned. The guide spent much of our time complaining rather than giving us a history lesson. I emailed this company for a partial refund but have heard nothing. Very disappointed. BTW, it is clearly stated that the Forum tour will last 45 minutes.

We started at the meeting point and we all got radios with an earbud so that we could hear the tour guide without standing very close, this is now a must for any tour I do, it is a game changer. The group I was in was a little large, about 15 people, but we got around quite easily and it didn't interfere with the tour. We also got to skip the line and go in through the tour guide entrance.

Esperienza negativa: Miserable experience. We booked the 9:30am tour through TripAdvisor only to find out when we arrived at 9:30am that we were "30 minutes late." Apparently, after booking the event, the confirmation ticket they send insists that you arrive 30 minutes before the actual tour starts. This is not posted anywhere on the TripAdvisor event page so we had no idea we would have to arrive at 9am when we paid for the tour. Upon explaining this to the Tour in the City employees and asking if someone would please escort us to the tour group (we also made several other reasonable suggestions that would allow us to join the tour) the two women in the front office laughed, smiled, and said the only way we could join a tour now was to each pay 25 euro extra. The whole thing felt like such a scam, especially because they were insisting that the only way they could help us was if we paid more money. The woman who claimed to be the manager made several calls in Italian to “our other tour guide to see if we can get you a better deal” and then she would immediately tell us that she could reduce the price of the supposed 25 euro special entrance fee, adding “this is something I never do” with a smile on her face, and “if my boss knows I am giving you this special discount I will get in a lot of trouble” she repeated this several times, always with a smile and laugh.

Esperienza fantastica: We had the skip the line collosum tour. Our tour guide was great and was really informative. We ended up pay 10 euros each to continue the tour to the Palatine Hill. I thought that I would only need to know about the history of the collosum but Palatine hill was even more interesting. I would reccomend taking the full tour.

Esperienza fantastica: Rome in two days Tour with Tour in Rome!!!! My husband and I had booked this tour and honestly it was the right way to see the BEST of Rome in only 2 days. The drivers, staff and guides were extremely helpful and friendly. Everything went perfectly and we were also provided with excellent recommendations for real authentic local restaurants off the beaten path. Our tour guide Sergio was hilarious and made us feel relaxed and comfortable and brought us to the best place for gelato and we enjoyed one of the most authentic cafe's in Rome for an amazing espresso. This tour was one of the best tours we have experienced in our travels. Informative and exciting. Highly recommend!!!

We had a City Sightseeing over the most important sites of Rome... it is an amazing city! Our tour guide, Roxanne, was great...she did a very good job! We felt very special that even though we were the only two guests, because our tour was a private tour...all our requests were satisfied .
