Esperienza fantastica: We stumbled upon this tour by chance walking through Florence. It was one of the best experiences we had during our vacation in Italy. Everything was well organised. We drove to a wonderful little house at a lake outside of Florence. We were a small group of 9 people plus our cook. We learned how to make different kind of pasta, had some good wine and 4 delicious courses. The company was great and our cook entertained us very well. We can recommend this to everyone who visits Florence.

He taught us not just how to make simple and delicious dishes but made it a lot of fun. The overflow of wine and the absolutely indescribable environment is a memory I would recommend not be missed. Esperienza fantastica: We booked the cooking course with transportation to Countryside. The booking went smoothly and the payment method could be customized to our wishes. The communication with Chef Mario was very good. The cooking class was wonderful, it was so much fun. We cooked two types of pasta, a Florentine-style steak and a dessert. All the courses were incredibly tasty and we were allowed to participate as much as possible. Chef Mario is a funny and super nice instructor. The location could not have been better chosen. Esperienza fantastica: My wife and I had the pleasure of spending a convivial evening with our guide/teacher Mario at a beautiful rustic lakeside setting. Mario guided us through making two 2 kinds of pasta, with simple homemade sauces to match while preparing an amazing Florentine steak over the fire. This was followed by making a delicious tiramisu to finish the evening. Mario’s relaxed demeanor and obvious passion for cooking really made the experience special, and was a highlight of our trip.

On the way to hills we learned about Tuscany’s history which was very interesting, when we got there we picked some fresh fruit and vegetables from around the garden and used them to cook! Esperienza fantastica: If you were allowed to give 6 stars I would have. We were picked up and driven to the venue. During the trip we were given a fascinating lesson in history. The chef was charming and highly skilled. The 4-course meal which we helped to prepare was fabulous. Pici pasta with tomato sauce, potato ravioli with sage butter sauce, ribeye with mashed potatoes and grilled apples with custard.

Esperienza fantastica: Just returned from a wonderful afternoon with Chef Mario. The food was fabulous and we learned much and experienced making 2 kinds of pasta. We were picked up near our apartment and taken to a wonderful farm in the country. Chef Mario also cooked us Steak Firenze on an open fire. It was wonderful and magical. To add to our enjoyment Chef Mario was very funny. This was a highlight of our trip to Florence.

Esperienza fantastica: I recently had the pleasure of learning the Florentine way of cooking pasta and beef. Mario was exceptional at all things chef and tour guide. From the pick up and arrival, he was delightful, funny and an incredible chef. The class was small and the instruction clear and well delivered. The cost was also very fair, the location in the Tuscan countryside superb and produce top quality. Mario is witty and ensures you can relax or cook as much as you like. Highly recommend this company well thought out tours. A must!!! Can’t wait to make ‘pici’ at home.

Esperienza fantastica: This was an amazing night! First of all the place of the cooking class is amazing. The ambiance is very nice. We started with a prosecco and the sun shining throught the trees in the lake. Mario is really nice and treat you so well. Also the pasta making is so nice to learn and it taste very well. Not only the selfmade pasta but also the steak is soo delicious. And even the dessert is a surprise. I’m very happy we did this class.

Esperienza fantastica: I was fortunate to have been able to join the group for Mario’s cooking class at the last minute during my visit it Florence. It was a highlight of my holiday. Mario is very organised, relaxed, engaging, entertaining, considerate and obliging where possible with adapting the menu to suit people’s needs. I’m a solo traveller, I was added to the group, thoroughly enjoying the interactions, menu choice of local fresh and seasonal produce in the countryside not far from Firenze by a beautiful unique waterhole with the sounds of nature and the trout and turtle swimming. I would genuinely highly recommend Mario’s class for the local experience at a very affordable and fair price for meal and fun.

One of the advantages to take this activity is that they take you out from the town inside a forest to cook, and the place was magnificent. The food was very very delicious. Esperienza fantastica: We had a wonderful and fun morning with Chef Mario learning how to make three different types of fresh pasta. I was especially excited to participate because I have dietary restrictions - I am gluten and dairy free. Mario took extra care to work with my family in two separate spaces so that I could learn how to make gluten free pasta at the same time. He was a gracious host and we also enjoyed wine with our delicious meal. We left completely stuffed! I can’t wait to recreate our dishes at home.

Esperienza fantastica: What an amazing experience we had with Home Cooking Tours. Location is in a beautiful rustic countryside setting, with a cabin on the lake. Chef Mario was wonderful! Explained everything and so fun to work with! We made two pasta dishes and steak Florentine, accompanied by the best local wines. Dessert was made from fruit we picked off the grounds of the estate. Sooo good!!! Highly recommend this tour!

Esperienza fantastica: We were lucky enough to just have ourselves on the evening cooking trip. The cooking location at a tranquil pond, with a wood-fired stove was delightful. Mario drove us from the centre of Florence up into the hills, giving us historical insights on the way. When we arrived we picked fruit and herbs to use in the cooking. Mario made us extremely welcome and was very clear with his cooking instructions and demonstrations. We successfully made pici and ravioli then Mario cooked us a delicious steak followed by pan-seared fruit with chantilly cream. The food was accompanied by three different wines, including a Chianti and a Super Tuscan. He also sent us the recipes so we can try the dishes again at home. I’d say that it was one of our best-ever stand-out holiday experiences anywhere. I would highly recommend it to anyone. Thank you to Mario and the team and I hope their business goes from strength to strength.

We did the class in the countryside and made two pastas, florentine steak, and a dessert. So worth it! It was so nice to take a break from the city and slow down. He even sent us the recipes to recreate at home. My whole group had a lot of fun! Thank you!

Esperienza fantastica: Finding Homecooking Tours while meandering through the city was a win for the four of us during our 2-week late May 2024 vacation in Firenze. We walked right in, scheduled a class for the very next day, and the rest is a great memory. Mario transported us (and four others) from our meeting point at the library near our AirBnb late in the day, first to an olive grove and vineyard near the destination, then onward to the outdoor kitchen located on a small lake in ⁨Bagno a Ripoli⁩, ⁨Tuscany. He talked all the way, offering information about the history of the area, shared facts about chianti and olive oil, and answered a number of questions. It was a beautiful evening and setting for the things we would enjoy — humor, wine, pasta-making, eating, laughing, and making new friends from both Germany and Switzerland. We aproned-up, then floured our hands and soon learned to make pici pasta (hand-rolled thin ropes), tomato and onion sauce, ravioli, grilled vegetables, a version of Florentine Steak, and caramelized medlars (a fruit we picked while walking to the kitchen) with sweetened whipped cream for dessert. Mario was patient and funny, working hard for several hours to entertain and teach us new cooking skills. We all dined on the foods we’d made, sitting around an old farm table with more wine and conversation. On the ride back to the library late in the evening, we listened to Italian music and talked some more. Overall, a great experience! Thank you, Mario! A tip for anyone with mobility issues: You must be able to get into a van and also walk on some slightly uneven and hilly (unpaved) paths, as the kitchen is located on lower ground from where we parked.

From first meet to booking the tour to cooking to getting us to this cosy location so close to Florence and back again, it was seamless. Mario was a treasure of a host and this was the highlight of our trip in Europe. We absolutely loved the experience (and Mario) and cannot recommend this enough.

Mario picked us and 3 other guests up and drove us to the most beautiful Tuscan outdoor kitchen situated near a small pond, and we cooked two different pasta dishes together, & additionally Mario prepared the famous Tuscan steak to finish the meal. Mario has a fabulous temperament for this, he is funny, witty, and a great storyteller. The entire group was highly engaged from the moment we met, and he made the entire process of learning fun and memorable. A must do if you are in Florence!

After a short intro we decided to go ahead with the experience that same evening and WOW this serendipitous encounter led to one of the absolute highlights of our Europe trip. Located in a beautiful, intimate setting in the Tuscan countryside, we spent a magical evening with our close group of friends, learning how to make pasta, eating classic Italian home cooked dishes (in an outdoor open kitchen!) and drinking wine. Relaxing and fun. Plus, you can see the country side's olive groves and vineyards on the trip up. Wear comfortable clothes. If we did not have to come home, would have taken his pizza cooking class.

Esperienza fantastica: Incredible experience, so glad we did it! Mario took us to a beautiful setting beside a lake in the Tuscan countryside, about 20 mins drive from Florence. Mario was such a friendly and knowledgeable host. He catered for 4 of us vegetarians and was happy to make us eggplant parmesan dish (our favourite) instead of steak. We also made two pasta dishes, had plenty of wine and a simple but delicious apple dessert to end the night.

We were picked up and driven 20 mins outside of Florence. We stopped on the way to take pictures by the vineyards and olive farms. We then arrived at the most picturesque location by a lake with a dining area and kitchen. We proceeded to make 2 pastas, stopping to eat after each. As we are vegetarian, Mario kindly asked us what we would like instead and we chose aubergine parmigiana. It was amazing. We were constantly topped up on wine throughout the night. And made good friends with another couple there too.

Esperienza fantastica: We stumbled on the Home Cooking Tours shop walking down the streets of Florence. After talking to Mario, we decided that it would be fun to take a pasta making class. Mario picked us up at the meeting point in a very nice van and we were taken to a beautiful villa in the hills of Florence. There were only 2 other people besides our family. We learned to make homemade pasta, ravioli, and the sauces. The Florentine steak was cooked perfectly. The wines were perfectly paired with all of the courses. He cooks everything over an open wood fire on an amazing indoor grill. He has an outdoor kitchen by a cute pond but it was chilly and rainy outside so we stayed inside. We finished the evening with fresh cinnamon apples and real whipped cream. He dropped us off at our hotel with full bellies. This experience was hands down our favorite part of our Italy tour.

Esperienza fantastica: Our journey to a breathtaking countryside kitchen began with a scenic, history-filled drive narrated by Mario, our fantastic host and chef. We arrived at the stunning countryside kitchen, greeted by an actual rainbow as the sun was setting. The beautiful surroundings were just a prelude to the magic ahead! Fueled by wine and bruschetta on bread that we rolled out and fried, Mario passed on some secrets and techniques of pici pasta and pizza dough making. Wood fires blazed in the pizza oven and massive grill, and Mario's expert guidance made everything easy. The pici, that we made and rolled by hand, served with fresh tomato sauce cooked over the open fire grill was divine. The pizzas that we tossed and launched were baked to perfection. Grilled apples with whipped cream capped off this incredible experience. The highlight? Cooking with the incredible wood-fired oven and grill! Home Cooking Tours gets our highest recommendation.

The stunning atmosphere, hands on cooking & Mario’s family-like treatment of us made us feel right at home. Definitely will be booking this class again & again as I return to Florence in the future.

In the summer we swam in the lake and pool and then started cooking. We had amazing food, great wine, and wonderful, helpful, and kind teacher. Esperienza fantastica: My mom and I were looking for a cooking class to do while we were in florence and stumbled across this. From the moment we booked communication was great. Once we met at the pickup point we were given an in depth look at the history of florence and its food before brought to a beautiful farm just outside the city. We were treated to 4 delicious courses of pasta, steak, and a homemade dessert. Everything was fantastic and we learned so much. Esperienza fantastica: A must do for a night in Florence! It's kept to a small group for a more intimate evening. I have never made pasta from scratch before, and this was a great learning experience and tasty retreat for a night. The chef was knowledgeable and a wonderful teacher. The tour began with a little history on our 20 minute journey outside the city. Once there, we popped the cork on a bottle of wine to soak in some of the views of Florence. Shortly after, we began making two different types of pasta. While waiting for the dough to set, it gave us all the time to get to know one another and become a family for a night. Chef then began making the sauces in the traditional Tuscan way. Lastly, we ended with a delicious steak and potato plate. Each plate held its own wine pairing, and to end the night we had a lovely homemade dessert. I can't recommend this enough!

A big surprise and differential is the location, which passes through wineries and has an incredible lake to dive. The environment is totally different from other classes offered. Esperienza fantastica: We were welcomed in a beautiful farmhouse in the middle of nature by Gonzalo. After a tour around the property we started the cooking class with a glass of wine. Every course is made with fresh and local products accompanied by a pairing bottle of chianti wine. Gonzalo and Veronica made us feel right at home with great talks and humor. We highly recommend this experience when you’re in Tuscany and will book this again the next time we are around.

My family and I were told that we would be picked up, taken to the hills, enjoy a pool, learn some recipes, have some wine, eat delicious food and have a great time. I must say that they delievered all the above and more. We all had one of the best experiences of our lives and left thoroughly satisfied. Don't miss out on this unique Firenze experience.

Esperienza fantastica: We had the best time when we did the cooking class. We had 4 adults and 3 kids and everyone was entertained and engaged the entire time. It was some of the best food I've ever had and the staff couldn't have been nicer. We will hopefully get the chance to do this again sometime!

Esperienza fantastica: I am not one who usually writes reviews or use superlatives. Having said that, this was a superlatively great time and great food! “Mario” (he changes his moniker throughout, lol) as we’re driving to this rustic olive farm up in the hills outside Florence, gave us a 15 minute history of Florence with several stories of the city that are nicely passed over in the history books. His whole shtick through out is all fun. His assistant cook Veronica is showing us how to the the prep work. Our group was a few tourists and some administrators at the Fashion School in Florence for the Summer quarter. The cooking place is a building with a couple walls missing right on this olive farm, great views of the countryside with the city in back. The big wood fire stove/broiler is out of the 18th century. But the cooking experience; the way to do things, showing all the practical methods of cooking by hand, the proper use of yeast, making and rolling the dough the right way, making the noodles. I and my daughter with me had a very happy time with our fellow students. 3 different wines accompany as we make the noodles which is fun certainly added to the ambiance. My view of bruschetta is forever changed. I am afraid I am not going to get this back home. So fine the cheese the dough the pesto, the roasted tomato. That was just the beginning. After we finished rolling our our noodles from our doughs, Mario and Veronica had made a tomato sauce from fresh and very savory tomatoes to go with our noodles. Delicious. Then we watched as he made a Florentine Steak that was better than the city had and I love the city places. Magnificent. The whole thing takes about 5 hours including the 15 minute rides in/ out of the city. 150Euros. Worth every penny. I must recommend this experience to amateur or family (Swimming pool is included!) Fun educational ( makes you respect cooks) and the food. This is one of the Italian greats.

Esperienza fantastica: What can you say but; Wow, wow, wow, wow From the professional presentation of the booking, to then the comfortable ride filled with hidden history and Florentine fabulousness, Gonzalo (Chef Mario) surpassed all expectations. The drive through the Tuscan wine region was sublime as we entered the private woods were this experience takes place. The set up was beautiful and we learn how to make bruschetta, gnocchi, Florentine Steak and for dessert fresh fruits with whip cream. Everything was cooked with fire and each course paired perfectly with generous Chianti (you get a lesson in that too). If you are curious about a truly farm to table and sustainable experience, look no further. The host is multi lingual and his assistant Veronica is the sweetest. Just DO IT!!

Esperienza fantastica: I went last minute with me and my best friend and we had a FANTASTIC time!! It was an amazing deal especially for its price, an experience you definitely wouldn’t want to miss. The people working were wonderful and the food was EXCELLENT. Beautiful views, great company and INCREDIBLE food! It was tons of fun I would highly recommend to anyone!!

Esperienza fantastica: One of the best cooking lessons I’ve done while traveling. Initially my family and I saw the posting for a cooking class on Expedia, however there was a miscommunication and Expedia didn’t send the reservation information to the company. Despite that Gonzalo (chef and owner of the company) drove all the way to us and ensured we had the best time. He drove us around Florence and gave us a brief history of the city, took us to the best view of the top of the city, and took us to the most beautiful setting overlooking a lake to cook a private three course meal. He made it fun and entertaining and the food was AMAZING. We started off making bruschetta then moved on to pasta in an incredible tomato sauce. Then we had famous florentine T bone steak cooked in Gonzolo’s homemade Argentinian barbecue over fire. He then made us tiramisu. I highly recommend this class for everyone, especially families. It was one of the loveliest experiences we had while in Italy

Esperienza fantastica: A wonderful evening w Homecookingtours. I was picked up at a convenient spot. The drive through the low-tourist part of town then into the Tuscan hills & forests was a delight after days of tourist crowds. We learned some fine dishes, made our own pasta, enjoyed a great meal w/ 3 wine pairings in a beautiful, rustic setting. Rather expensive but so many aspects made it worthwhile.

The setting was divine, the most rustic cabin with wood fired grill and stoves, nestled in the forest on the bank of a river catchment. Paired with delicious wine and friendly company, the whole experience was top knotch and definitely a highlight of my travels
